Do You Ever Go To Sam’s Club Or Costco To Get A Rotisserie Chicken? Can’t Beat $5 For A Cooked Chicken…

Can’t make one at home for that. I do it pretty often.

There's a hot chicken counter in my local supermarket. We occasionally go in early evening and get a reduced one for a couple of quid. Last week they knocked out organic uncooked stuffed chickens in a roasting bag. We were amazed how easy to cook it was and absolutely delicious.

@meggie When I was working at Walmart over 10 years ago and would get off about 10 or 11 at night the deli people would put those leftover rotisserie chickens on clearance for about $2 and any night we found them me and my friend would get one each. Then they stopped. I believe they putting them in the fridge section near the deli so that people could buy them with their SNAP cards. Couldn’t buy hot deli foods with a SNAP card then (I don’t know about now). I hope they know that those were the chickens that they used to sell cheap at the end of the day. They were the same price as the hot chickens but Walmart’s chickens were smaller than Sam’s Club chickens. The manager had all kinds of tricks up his sleeve.

@cherokeepatti I don't think the supermarkets do that here with cooked chicken and salmonella risks, but if you want groceries with a longer use by date you take from the back of the shelf as the front items are often use by today.

@meggie I had customers come in to return different types of food saying they were spoiled. Packaged lunch meats was one and another I remember was pork chops a lady bought to make for her parent’s anniversary dinner. She said she opened them up and they were slimy. She was angry and I don’t blame her. I don’t buy meat from Walmart at all.

@cherokeepatti Walmart meat can be suspect. Winco has the best meat!

@Crazywaterspring I get a whole Cod fish at Winco and ask them to bring me a frozen one from the back. I don’t want one that sits on the counter, probably fresh but at my age I need really fresh. My neighbor gave me that tip, she asks for frozen each time too.

@Crazywaterspring I want to get some chicken breasts when they put them on sale and grind them up to make a chicken meat loaf and also meatballs and homemade chicken nuggets. . We used to make a chicken meat loaf at the congregate meal program for Seniors and it was simple to make and really good. Ground chicken, chopped celery & onion, an egg, salt and pepper and then bake it. It was so good I learned to make it.

@cherokeepatti Cod is nice but always make sure it has been frozen.

@Crazywaterspring I do, I buy it frozen. It is wild caught American cod too. Hard to find wild-caught fish in a lot of stores but the lady who works back in that department says she tries to get as much wild-caught American fish as she can to sell. That was a bonus for me to learn.
