Favorite herbs?

I mean for seasoning.

I think I'll say basil or rosemary. I can put basil leaves on anything and rosemary grows everywhere over here

Chives, for sure. I can't keep them in the house. And summer savory for soups and stews...can't keep that around either.

@4meAndyou I have tried to grow chives several times but the seeds wouldn’t germinate. Nothing makes my mouth water like the smell of mashed potatoes with chives. They served those at the Congregate Meal Program the first day I worked there and my mouth was watering the entire time I was serving them. They used some type of canned chives that didn’t dry out. I bought a bottle of dry chives to make them and they had no flavor at all

@cherokeepatti You have to buy the chive plants at a local nursery. Some grocery stores sell the plants. If you decide to grow them, plant them in a gallon bucket in your garden, and bury the bucket. Chives are very invasive. I had regular and garlic chives both in my tiny garden when I lived in a condo. Nowadays I just buy the freeze dried chives and reconstitute them.

@4meAndyou I would love to have invasive chives. Would be eating all of them. It’s a Cherokee tradition here to cut buckets of chives in the spring and have a dinner in the spring with scrambled eggs and chives. The closest I’ve come to that was using spreading green onions that my uncle got a start of. Had to use them quickly because as soon as the weather got too warm they would grow tough. They were so good while they lasted

@cherokeepatti Except they don't spring up as nice clumps...they spring up as individual blades in your garden, like weeds, and choke everything else.

@4meAndyou could grow them in a small kiddie pool maybe

@cherokeepatti That would be perfect!
