I’ve had to do that many times in my life and understand the embarrassment.

ronnie · 56-60, M
In this day and age you should not need to have to do this. Governments and politics have long since lost control.

However, do not ever, EVER, be embarrassed by this. There are so many people working and unemployed who are having to rely on foodbanks nowadays. There is NO stigma to it whatsoever. They are there for you. Those of us who donate to it, want you to take the donations, otherwise we are wasting our times.

Do it without feeling any embarrassment - ever.

When the day comes and you no longer need to do so, then you may be fortunate enough to be able to donate back.
Well, that’s what it’s for. Imagine if you didn’t went. Your pride would’ve starved yo a$$ until who knows when. Also, if you’re looking for a hot meal. I highly encourage people in need to eat the hotel breakfast at least once in a while, don’t make it a habit because they’re gonna catch on. But when I worked the front desk at a hotel, we had to throw away stuff like eggs, sausages, biscuits every day if they didn’t get ate because a lot of hotels won’t reuse leftovers since it’s no longer fresh. It might as well go to somebody in need so don’t ever feel ashamed of needing food. Because you gotta eat.
@TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart There a problem if someone get sick then they can sue the hotel.A lot of places use to give food away but because of health reg and being sue it has stopped. Now it’s dumpster diving.
@Submissiveiendencies I feel like it’s kind of hard proving where you got food poisoning at. And if you go in there at will knowing that you didn’t pay for a room just to get free breakfast at a place you didn’t pay to be at and end up getting food poisoning, you can try to sue but you’re also gonna be charged with theft of services because that’s just how the world works.

I work as a volunteer at our Food Bank, and we understand that good people find themselves in need sometimes. You have our respect for doing what you can with what you have. Don't be embarrassed. I hope things get better for you.

You can benefit from it and when you get back on your feet you can repay my volunteering or donating. Everyone needs help at times. That’s why they exist.

@JustDJ76 no thanks I wouldn't have I have a job now
JustDJ76 · 46-50, M
@Wolfgirl567 I meant when you get to the place where you’re fine and don’t need to go to the food bank, you could repay by volunteering or helping out.

You probably need it as much as anyone else that goes or even more. Go ahead and don’t feel ashamed.

At least you can afford an Internet connection.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@ninalanyon Choosing the Internet over food and drink, makes life impossible.

Don't be embarrassed to need a bit of help sometimes in life. The only reason to be embarrassed by accepting help is if you're like a lady I knew back in my college days who owned her own store, had a husband with a good income, but still went and accepted free dental service, food, etc. rather than spend her own money.

I understand, but you're NOT alone. Many people fall into the category of "The Working Poor", essentially one paycheck away from poverty. Most of them can pay rent, but run out of money for food. I used to be one of them 30 years ago. Its tough, but you can get out of it!

Don't be. Times are rough right now. Hold your head high and do what you need to do.
