@Vin53 My trick is to boil the water,add nothing,as you hear people add a dashboard of vinegar or white wine vinegar .Best to have as fresh as possible eggs too.
I place an egg into the water with a spoon,still intact in its shell,for 10 seconds,them take out,and then crack into the water. Cook for a few mins..Voilà poached
