I went to a Starbucks

In this branch they have a sign stating that 99% of their coffee is ethically sourced.

Am i weird for thinking that therefore 1% of their coffee is unethically sourced, perhaps grown with slave labour or stolen from subsistence farmers? 🤣🤣

It's possible that they simply can't be sure of the provenance of all the coffee they buy. I dare say that some of it is bought from brokers rather than direct from the farmers and some of the brokers are not 100% reliable when it comes to the audit trail.

Perhaps they are just being more honest than those who claim 100% ethically sourced.

But in my opinion the real question is this: Why did you go to Starbucks in the first place? The only time I go to Starbucks is when I am in the company of people who think that they have to eat and drink all the time and Starbucks is the only place nearby. If I can plan where to go there is always somewhere better.

@ninalanyon Starbucks has good tasting coffee but way over priced
@ninalanyon I wasn't paying so.... I had a peach iced tea. I'm not really a coffee drinker.

@ninalanyon Indeed. In fact I avoid all these American junk-food chains and object not only to the prices but also the pretentiousness (not confined to those chains) of using milk froth and pseudo-Italian to hide that the conveniently-opaque cup holds far less than its volume, of beverage.

@ArishMell The last Starbucks I was in was fitted out like the poorest kind of works canteen, just rows of plain chairs and tables in a big glass box. The food was passable and the coffee worse. I was only there because a man from Fabguys.com wanted to meet me and that seemed to be the most convenient for him.

@ninalanyon Fitted out as cheaply as possible, to make as many bucks as possible...
