Is it strange that I like ribs this way?

When I go to a BBQ place,I like ribs well enough,as well as the sauce that goes with it.But I always ask that my sauce comes on the side,as I find it too messy when they are directly out on the ribs.Is this strange?

I've never asked for them that way but I totally understand your reasoning

@ArtieKat I've been told that they serve them like that in Memphis.

@DavidT8899 I'm on my way lol! 🤣

@ArtieKat Well ,I'm sure you don't have to do that -just make a special order at your local BBQ place.

Just out of curiosity,what is your favorite BBQ place?
ArtieKat · M
@DavidT8899 I'm near Liverpool in the Northwest of England so I doubt that the restaurants I use would be familiar on your side of the pond. My current favourite is a Turkish barbecue restaurant so the styles of cooking and service are very different to yours

@ArtieKat I understand.Ever have any American -style BBQ?
ArtieKat · M
@DavidT8899 Oh yes, very frequently. The point I was trying to make is that I can't think of any genuine US chains over here like Mcdonalds or KFC, for example, which specialise in ribs

@ArtieKat Ugh.Fast food is NOT genuine BBQ!So,you say you've had American-style many times.Which places and out of them which is your favorite.

@DavidT8899 Most of my favourites are no longer in existence lol. There was an ex-pat American advertising executive who started several restaurant/bar chains in the 1970s/80s. Henry J Beans on the King's Road in Chelsea was superb! :-)

@ArtieKat Ever go to Chaps?
ArtieKat · M
@DavidT8899 Never heard of it, I'm afraid
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@ArtieKat A shame.But now that I think about it,it was silly of me to ask.Its an American chain that is strictly local to my state.The have the best BBQ ever.

@ArtieKat I remember reading that an American expat opened a good-old - fashioned American-style diner in France,and that it was a HUGE hit with the locals.Im surprised that no one has though of doing the same thing with a BBQ place.I think it would have great potential.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@ArtieKat And do you know what would be a good idea in my country?I don't know what you're experience has been,but almost every authentic BBQ I've been told as been strictly carry-out.Chaps was the only one I've known to have indoor dining,and even then it was basically just benches.If an American would combine authentic BBQ(not the faux stuff)with an upscale casual restaurant with waiters,that would be a winning combination.

@DavidT8899 Certainly the barbecue restaurants in the UK are largely dine-in - the quality of the food is generally better than takeaways
