Nah American cheese has a melting texture that makes it like a sauce, even fancy-ass chefs put American cheese on their burger.
However the cool move is to buy sodium citrate and melt your swiss cheese with that. When it sets, you get swiss cheese quality, American cheese texture.

Nah, sorry America but it's like plastic. Decent bit of matured cheddar is what I put on my burgers or occasionally brie with fruity chutney. 😋
