the one I remember is sitting around the kitchen table during harvest time on the farm…fried chicken, mashed potatoes, cream gravy, green beans, green onions, yeast rolls, coconut cream pie, and tea. Everything was homemade starting right after the kitchen dishes were cleaned up after breakfast. I helped pluck the chicken my aunt butchered, and picked the green beans and snapped them. The table was loaded with food, the farm kitchen smelled better than any restaurant and the neighbors who helped with harvest bragged on everything. Can’t get a meal in a restaurant that fresh and tasty.

@cherokeepatti That was 20 years ago. I am glad you had a great time on his farm.

@cherokeepatti You are right. I am sure we will find him in Heaven when we get there.

Valentine's day several years ago... my gf booked us the best table at my favourite Italian restaurant. Three large and hearty courses of meatballs, chicken parmesan, garlic bread and cheesecake. Full to absolute bursting at the table 😅 and then we stayed the night at a local hotel. Was just the perfect experience.

Had plenty of great meals but that whole evening was the best.

The ex and I went out to dinner at a French restaurant. We started with escargot sauteed in garlic, wine and butter, and then shared the Chateaubriand with planked duchesse potatoes, and ended with creme brulee. It was fabulous.

BUT I would say that my own Filet Mignon au Poivre au Provencal on the charcoal grill with baked potato and Caesar salad was a close second, and my own Alaskan King Crab Legs with drawn butter, foccacia bread and Caesar salad was a close third.

@sree251 I just cook for myself now. Sometimes it's just too much trouble, but I have posted a lot of recipes here with photos.

@4meAndyou Too much trouble? I cook dinner every night and would prefer that to eating out. It's white table cloth fine dining at home. No trouble.

My first time trying In-N-Out. I had just marched 5 miles in the Rose Parade, and every participant gets a free burger at the end. In LA, they have catering trucks so they are able to make the burgers on the spot. I was so hungry and exhausted and thought their burgers were probably overrated, but I was so wrong. It was amazing. It is just so simple, yet so perfect, I was instantly hooked and cannot wait until they arrive on the east coast.

It's not the meal. It's your state of mind. I have a great meal when I feel great. It could be a simple pasta dish, a bottle of wine, and some cheeses.

So far to date, a really well cooked steak, seasoned and cooked to perfection.
