The right answer is drink what you like, they way you like it, as long as you like it, and you can dispense with the snobs. Be you.
But some whiskies are clearly better than others, and there's a hierarchy among just blended ones too. If you don't believe me try Johnny Walker Red Label, and then JW Black (or go further up the price bracket if someone else is paying!). And then compare it to maybe a 10yo Tomatin (again, get a friend to pay). But definitely good blended whiskies are as wonderful and complex and delicious as plenty of single malts. There's nothing particularly special about a single malt, it's more just distilled expertise and tradition and local conditions as much as anything.
There's a lot of snobbishness, but like stereotypes there's a bit of truth behind it too.

@Persephonee Lidl's blended malt comes up high in blind testing!

I think the answer is what ever you like more! Starting off blends are good but then you come to appreciate single malts.
Just like ice/no ice, water/no water, just drink it the way you like is my motto.

Each person has a preference

I particularly like whiskey. Yet there are well known single malt. brands which i find foul to taste. And two particular single malt whiskies which are heavenly. Some blended whiskies are ok so to speak. But if you like whiskies a single malt will be the preference

@Royrogers If I may ask, what is your opinion of the John Walker brand?

Single malts are more distinctive.
Blended scotches are -get ready- blends. They may be good and some are. But in my view, more homogenized.

Not sure. I do know this though, all results are typically the same. (Drink/Drank/Drunk)
