price hike on oil

I don't use cheap cooking oil, but in 2 months time we will see price jump 30-40 % on all cooking oils. Why not buy it now and safe the money ? look at the label , so you don't buy old ones.

We get by with about a pint of olive oil a month. And we keep a backup pint in the pantry. So we are good for a couple of months, maybe 3 if we stretch it. All grocery items seem chancy. Was at a nearby Walmart yesterday and there was practically no fresh meat nor processed meat items. About 100 running feet or more of completely empty refrigerators.

@Heartlander Logistics problems will last for at least a year , it will add to inflation . Many vegetable producing countries have export ban on oils and there is no way to substitute it with something else . Simple things like soaps, shampoo , etc needs oils. All cheap products using cheap oil will be out of business .

@soar2newhighs yes, eggs are now at risk. As are all poultry products. Watching the recent downward surge of the stock market raises comparisons to the cusp of the great depression.

@soar2newhighs my daughter keeps chickens. She used to give us a couple of dizen eggs each month which was nice, now it’s way more than nice, now it’s extravagant.

Probably need to use less of it anyway.

@Khenpal1 well people don’t need to eat so many deep fried foods….I think they can live without it.

@cherokeepatti In many parts of the world fried food is the only option. Beside oil is used in a lot of industries and ban on exports of oil will drive the price up.

@Khenpal1 well people need to learn other methods of cooking. What they will probably do is reuse their cooking oils even more than they already do. Even reusing it once is bad enough. It breaks down chemically and causes free radical damage to cells, can cause DNA to unravel. I was told this by a chemist and a microbiologist.
