Boiling Nuts

I know that peanuts can be boiled. My wife usually boils peanuts in their shells then lets them dry before we eat them.
My question is this, can other nut varieties such as walnuts or cashews also be boiled as well?

Ever wonder why you never buy cashews in the shell? The shell is like poison ivy and makes your skin break out in a rash

@hippyjoe1955 I didn't know that. Thanks for enlightening me. Do you know if unshelled cashews be boiled?

@IM5688 I honestly don't know. I read a little article a few years ago that said that about cashews. Of course I have never seen a cashew shell so.....

@hippyjoe1955 Yes, the shells are toxic....here’s a photo (it looks like a large cashew):

@DragonFruit Thank you for thee picture! I had no idea what they looked like. Do they have to treat the shell before opening it or?????
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 They have to soak it (the quickest way is by boiling) to make the shell softer and easier to remove.

@DragonFruit That makes sense. Thank you for the information. I always count it a blessed day when I learn something I didn't know.
