Boiling Nuts

I know that peanuts can be boiled. My wife usually boils peanuts in their shells then lets them dry before we eat them.
My question is this, can other nut varieties such as walnuts or cashews also be boiled as well?

Ever wonder why you never buy cashews in the shell? The shell is like poison ivy and makes your skin break out in a rash

@DragonFruit Thank you for thee picture! I had no idea what they looked like. Do they have to treat the shell before opening it or?????

@hippyjoe1955 They have to soak it (the quickest way is by boiling) to make the shell softer and easier to remove.

@DragonFruit That makes sense. Thank you for the information. I always count it a blessed day when I learn something I didn't know.
I expect peanuts are a special case as they aren't actually nuts...

and then I Googled and most nuts aren't actually nuts. but peanuts are still special case legumes.... I don't know of any, but I didn't know of boiled peanuts till not long ago.

Cashews (and true nuts such as pecans and walnuts) are often boiled to make removing the shell easier and to soak them to get rid of any toxicity from the shells.
