How do you season pinto beans?

I have made beans quite a few times but no matter how much I've put different types of seasoning like garlic powder, onion powder, chilli powder, etc they still come out bland. Let me know how you season it and measurements?

Sauté the bacon /hocks with onion and garlic first to caramelízale then add some veggie or meat stock or boullon cubes/water and beans and a bay leaf and spices. Bring to boil then Simmer until you like the consistency and flavor

Forget the powders and add the real thing. Garlic, onions, etc. And hot sauce.
I was going to say my mil adds onions. @carpediem

@carpediem I did this and there is a big difference. It came out good. I also put a little taco seasoning. Thanks

@Sunflower2021 Well I hope you saved some for me to taste right?

I don’t eat pork but i do like a smoky flavor so sometimes I cook them with smoked turkey wings…and add some salt, pepper, cumin, oregano for more flavor.

After going through the trouble of making them give them to someone you do not like especially if they have a spouse you do not like. Gaseous revenge.🤣

Mesquite and or chili sauce. If the chili sauce isn't sweet perhaps a touch of either honey or agave syrup.
i buy the packs of beans with seasonings and instructions
I just put salt and pepper.

Salt, pepper, ginger…

@cherokeepatti I never thought about putting ginger in it. Interesting

@Sunflower2021 Ginger is anti-gas, it has a subtle flavor and fresh ginger is better than powder if it is very finely minced. Also using chili spices in pinto beans is really good, think of ranch-style beans.

Umm..salt
Sunflower2021 · 31-35, F
@b22065 I'm laying off the salt lol

@Sunflower2021 Honestly...salt is where it is at. You're not going to get much flavor from Pinto Beans without salt. Perhaps there is a salt substitute you can try? I don't have salt issues, so I don't bother with those.

I use salt pork.
