Did you ever work with a food thief? In other words, a lunch thief. [I Hate Food Thieves]

How can you be civil to someone like that? 🕵️

What do you mean by a food thief? Explain that to me
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Iwillwait People who steal other people’s lunches, snacks, desserts or potluck dinner items.

@cherokeepatti if someone is stealing my food, I am not aware of the loss and they must need it more than me obviously. Que Sera Sera, question is, how did they get in my home to do that!?!? That's an issue.

@Iwillwait Nope some people are too damn lazy to cook and they spend all extra money on fast food etc. The woman I mentioned to another poster made twice the money I did, had no family to support and her home was paid off. She just didn’t want to cook, which is about 1/3 the cost of buying food in restaurants. Two other people were alcoholics and would steal from our office refrigerator. Some people would go to the office to eat lunch and find their lunch gone. If a person has money for alcohol they can buy their lunch too. And I’m talking about a workplace situation.

@cherokeepatti yeah, that is just foul.

@Iwillwait if people are in a bad situation and can prove it then they may qualify for Food stamps, it would help supplement their groceries. But they would need to learn to cook real foods in order to have enough to spread out through the month. That’s a problem with a lot of people, they want to buy easy foods that cost a lot more or they don’t want to budget their money.

@cherokeepatti I eat most meals from a can, and a lot of eggs. Produce is my killer to the budget.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Iwillwait eggs, lentils, rice, potatoes and whatever produce is on sale or reasonably priced.... carrots, apples, greens, tomatoes etc.
Mouseinthehouse · 41-45, F
@cherokeepatti that is the root of the problem. Get their benefits/dole money and buy takeaways or readymade meals and after a few days their money is gone. It is mostly pure laziness

@Mouseinthehouse When I worked at Walmart store about a decade ago some of the cashiers would tell me that a lot of the people who used them would load up on junk food, soft drinks, and expensive frozen meals or whatever...fill their carts full and it was every month. One lady came into the store in a handicap scooter, one leg was already cut off and the other turning black, she was obese & she would buy many bags of junk food & have them hanging off the back of the scooter & in her lap when she left. Every single month.

@cherokeepatti i had an unmarried mother of 5 neighbour once. On giro day she'd buy KFC for them all, a few bags of sweets and bottles of coke a cola. Then a carton of cigarettes. A few days later she'd send the kids out knocking on our doors asking for money and food. If we put the hose on to wash our car, within seconds you were surrounded by the 5 kids wanting to help for money. I asked her why she didnt cook for the kids and she said i should try being a mother of 5. Her home was filthy too with overgrown gardens.

@Mouseinthehouse I lived in an apartment complex and had a neighbor who was on Food stamps & got her apartment paid by housing, it was all bills paid too. By the third week of the month she was out of food, so she’d knock on our doors asking for food, and she would be specific like wanting a package of meat (she saw my deep-freezer) or tortilla chips. I gave her a package of Ramen noodles and she didn’t take them. A neighbor I was friends with told me that she got help from a food pantry too, and her church friend were giving her food etc. She was just a big moocher who pretended to be mentally handicapped. I think they caught onto her because now she is a greeter at Sams and she doesn’t talk like she is brain-damaged any more, it was a big act...
