Is anyone here vegan?

I wonder if vegan butters tastes similar to regular butter.. coz.. its my cooking hack.. when i try to cook some vegies, i dont know why but they have this micro tangy flavor back in my toungue but if I use some butter my vegie dish is somewhat better and eadible lol.. if i ever try being a vegetarian or vegan, i need to know how to enhance my vegie cooking..!!! If I cant use a regular butter, how do I make the flavor better, I wonder..

🙋‍♂️ I like sunflower butter, not quite the same but a serviceable substitute.

@BlueVeins ahh! I think i once saw it at an Australian supermarker.. i wish there are more products like that with affordable price where i live.. 😭

I cook for a living and I have developed some vegan recipes. The truth is that to replicate familiar flavours you usually have to use artificial additives - which rather defeats the proclaimed aim of veganism.

@ArtieKat whats the closest thing to regular butter amonf vegan food?
ArtieKat · M
@jellyfishman In the UK there is a common dairy-free spread called Vitalite.

@ArtieKat ahh.. too bad we dont have it in here but i guess i just need to try dairy free stuff to see if i like them..
I think it does. I also haven't tasted real butter in over a decade, so what do I know?

@Nadie ahh.. maybe i can be one too one day.. i just need to get used to the vegetable flavor i guess.. somehow even imagining only-vege dish makes me feel nauseous at the moment.. i can eat veges with meat but when i try vegetables without meat, it feels like my body cant take it. I feel some acidity or something.. and im kinda scared of vege dishes, it is so weird..
@jellyfishman add vegan junk food. It makes everything better.

@Nadie yea im gonna order some vegan dumplings first!!! Hope they taste nice..

There’s lots of flavours in the world without having to mimic animal products. Vegetables can be enhanced with some other oil and spices or maybe some miso paste or nutritional yeast.
jellyfishman · 31-35, F
@SW-User i never heard of nutritional yeast! :-0 interesting

Earth Balance is the only vegan butter I've tried. There are recipes out there to make your own as well.
Lapochka · 31-35, F
No. I enjoy a balance of all food including meat and seafood
jellyfishman · 31-35, F
@Lapochka i love meat and seafood too.. but i feel like in a nutritional wise, i should be able to eat healthy enough without them
Penny · 46-50, F
olive oil is best for veggies
jellyfishman · 31-35, F
@Penny olive oil tastes good in some dishes but sometimes i hate the smell of it somehow.. but well.. ive heard it is really healthy..!!
Penny · 46-50, F
@jellyfishman yeah it like helps you absorb the nutrients in the vegetables better plus its unsaturated fat. butter has saturated fat. i personally dont care for butter on my veggies except maybe in mashed potatoes or occasionally on corn. don't think it adds anything to them, but that is me.
jellyfishman · 31-35, F
@Penny i bet it maked the food less dry at least..! Good tip!

Whats a vegan butter ? I am vegetarian , but i use regular butter
jellyfishman · 31-35, F
@SW-User so vegans dont eat dairy products, not only meat.. so they make butter with other stuff like coconut oil, soymilk, avocado and so on I think..
SW-User
@jellyfishman oooh like no animal products , only plant products .
jellyfishman · 31-35, F
@SW-User yea ive heard they also dont eat honey and palm oil coz producing them is harmful to animals..
