Why is a tomato classed as a fruit when we treat it like a vegetable?

I think it's because of the seeds

@meJess We don't eat the seeds, why because of them?

@Crazychick Because fruit has seeds within it, like water melon, oranges, apples etc. Tomatoes have little soft yellowy seeds in. Vegetables don't have seeds inside them. Just a guess

@meJess So why do we treat tomatoes as if they are vegetables when it comes to cooking and eating?

@Crazychick Because of the taste I guess

@meJess In that case all fruit and vegetables should be classified according to taste.

@Crazychick That's one way of doing it, but I think they are classified on whether they have seeds on the inside or not

@meJess That just confuses people. I prefer it when black is black and white is white. When the two mix they have a nasty way of turning each other grey. Who wants that?
