Is Anyone Still Disinfecting Their Groceries?

I ran out of Lysol/Clorox wipes, and can’t find them anywhere. I’ve been using those tiny squares of 70% isopropyl alcohol instead. Do you think it’s safe on the food packages, and will it kill the virus?

I have never disinfected my groceries, but I use Lysol spray to disinfect the remotes, door handles, phones, etc.

I used Lysol wipes for door handles etc, but now they are gone, and can’t find them anywhere. I have a little Lysol spray left, but need it for house cleaning like the bathroom and kitchen, so now I’m using little alcohol wipes for surfaces, the kind they use for an injection site. @JeanAnna

@Carissimi Lysol wipes are very hard to find here, too. A pharmacist told me to use Lysol All Purpose Cleaner, just spray that on a cloth and clean whatever you need to clean. It goes a lot longer than a wipe. You can use any All Purpose Cleaner, that's what I've been using, I even use it on the steering wheel in our vehicles, door handles, etc. I have also used Pine Sol for cleaning bathrooms. My husband thinks my paranoid and over doing it, but I don't want to get sick.

I’m with you. A little paranoia may save your life. An all purpose cleaner wouldn’t kill the virus, would it?@JeanAnna

@Carissimi The all purpose cleaners say it kills 99.9% of all germs and viruses. I trust it.

Okay, thanks. I’ll see if I can find it on my next grocery order. @JeanAnna

@Carissimi Good luck. I was fortunate to buy two bottles before things went crazy. So by now, they should have ample supplies.

I can’t believe why there is still a shortage of certain items. It’s taken weeks to find kitchen towels in stock. I need new kitchen gloves, but no luck so far. I don’t understand what the problem is by now. No one is allowed to panic but for months. @JeanAnna

@Carissimi I ordered some masks from Amazon two months ago and haven't received them yet. Now you can get a mask just about anywhere, I bought one at Menards. Are you talking about paper towels? I had no idea kitchen towels would be hard to find. Maybe with the stores opening up you'll be able to find them. Probably Bed, Bath and Beyond would have them, but who knows.

I ordered masks too, from Amazon. They were here within days. Made in China, and very poor quality. No seal at all. The nose seal is useless. Yes, paper towels. I’ve not heard of Menards. Are you in the States?@JeanAnna
Carissimi · F
@JeanAnna I can’t find masks at any store.
JeanAnna · F
@Carissimi I found some at CVS, Menards, Meiers, plus a friend made me a couple. So I'm in good shape.

I’ll check back at CVS. Thanks. @JeanAnna
