Why is it that SOME food chains decide to ONLY be in certain areas of the country?

Example: Zaxby's... NO WHERE near where I live now, closest one is an 8 hour trip to Kentucky. 馃槀

Zaxby's is good. But a place called Raisin' Canes is better.
