Are you ready for the meat tax?

I heard on the news that, in Germany, a meat tax is up for consideration. It will be similar to luxury taxes on cigarettes and alcohol. It is part of their effort to address climate change.

Burger King is carrying Impossible Burgers to get us used to NOT eating meat.

I would be happy with that, and I like chicken and fish...but my doctor says I HAVE to eat beef. There's some sort of chemical in it that helps your kidneys to function better.

What are people like me supposed to do when they tax beef beyond our budgets?

shouldn't be eating meat everyday anyway - who cares a few cents tax.

@MarmeeMarch I care. Meat is NOT a luxury item for me. (Read above). And we don't know what the tax will be. It will NOT be just a few cents.

The tax on cigarettes as a luxury item is so high most people can't afford to smoke. They did that so people wouldn't smoke.

But there are medical reasons for some people needing to eat red meat. Am I going to have to go out now and get a meat prescription? Am I going to have to pay a lawyer to get me a tax exemption?
@4meAndyou Well if you NEED meat then it would be shitty predicament if you had to pay more. And I guess it has come to that- an Rx from the doctor.

@MarmeeMarch And that just sucks. I don't need a prescription now...and I don't need to hire a lawyer to get me a tax exemption, and that's going to be costly. And I WILL need all of the above if the a-holes in charge of government keep up their idiocy.
