Are you ready for the meat tax?

I heard on the news that, in Germany, a meat tax is up for consideration. It will be similar to luxury taxes on cigarettes and alcohol. It is part of their effort to address climate change.

Burger King is carrying Impossible Burgers to get us used to NOT eating meat.

I would be happy with that, and I like chicken and fish...but my doctor says I HAVE to eat beef. There's some sort of chemical in it that helps your kidneys to function better.

What are people like me supposed to do when they tax beef beyond our budgets?

I just noticed last night at a local tavern where we stopped off for dinner, a table-tent advertising bean-burgers as a new addition to their menu.

I think it's an attempt to address diversity, so chicken-wings smackers and vegans can enjoy one another's company over something they both do agree on.

Horrible that taxes are used as a vehicle for both rewarding some and punishing others.

@Heartlander Yeah...the impossible burgers are supposed to actually taste like real meat. They have a patented soy chemical in them that tastes just like hot juicy beef blood, so I probably wouldn't mind eating one.

What I MIND...is government trying to tax my food. What I MIND is some socialist somewhere trying to tax beef so high that poor people can't afford it.

It's a "punishment" tax. On the other end is a "reward" tax.

It's about politicians rewarding people who vote for them and punishing people who don't.

It's the great divider of the American people.
