Why are so many of you SO against veggie-based meat substitutes?

They're getting really good at this shit now. Have you tried beyond meat burgers? Flippin beefy!
But even beyond that, i've seen people get mad about the idea of a hypothetical meat substitute that tastes just as good.

Why wouldn't you want to eat something that didn't mean taking an animal's life if it was just as god or even nearly as good as the real thing?

I come from a very long line of ranchers here in the west. Both Native and settlers, the hardest thing in the world was switching to an all veggie diet. about nine years ago, I was sitting at breakfast eating sausage and eggs, and I looked at the sausage on my fork, I no longer saw a piece of meat, I saw the animal. From that day forward, if I wanted meat I would ask myself, "at this moment, Walks, could you go out and kill, skin, butcher, an animal'? Oh, I am capable of doing it, I have knowledge, but, could I KILL and DO all the work it takes to have that tasty steak, or burger, or chicken. So, knowing the work it takes to kill and skin and butcher a cow, or chicken or lamb, etc. I decide 'nope!' now, my family still eats meat, and sometimes, I'll take a taste of a perfectly grilled steak and it tastes like shit! It tastes like death to me!!!

Well...it's legitimate comment. They don't call menopause 'the change' for nothing! 😘back at ya!

@Allnighter also, to be honest, I didn't give up poultry and fish (I really love to fish!) for another two years! cheese and eggs just recently.

I still go out, heck I live in the mountains right on a beautiful lake! Now, I go out with out a pole in my canoe, and let the fish tickle my fingers as they come nibbling! I know I can catch and eat them, but, I figure, there are so many other people that kill, so I don't have to. But, that's just because of menopause!!! lol!!! I have helped some fish too, fish that 'got away' and I'm telling ya, they do feel pain!!
