What is the longest time you have gone without food?

So just drinking water only, not nutritional drinks. Perhaps it was due to a health issue or maybe you were in the military on an exercise or lost somewhere?

For me i was hiking with two friends during the 90's in a southern mountainous area of Australia and we weren't lost but one guy twisted his ankle and it slowed us down and we had to do the final five days through very mountainous country with only an onion, a packet of soup mix, some tea leaves and plenty of water. One guy had a chocolate bar left but ate it all himself. There was no adequate cell phone coverage back then. By the end i had lost a lot of weight, i was very lethargic and i could look at leaves on trees and was tempted to eat them along with all the bugs. During this time we also walked about 70km and I lost about 12kg and i was already very lean. At the end we finally got to a road near a small village and flagged down a motorist who picked us up. I actually didn't feel hungry at this point... it was like i was beyond it. I navigated with an outdated map which caused us to miss a small settlement along the way and compass.. so nothing electronic as that's all we had. Anyone been through something similar?

Here's a photo i took of a deserted hut in the distance that we came across.. it was shelter but had no food.

Three days. I drank plenty of water and read my Bible and prayed, as it was an intentional fast.

@KayraJordyn Maaaaan I'd die if I tried to do that. In a survival situation, I'd say you'd last longer than me.

@BlueMetalChick You're able to talk your way out of a lot of things?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User Oh yeah, I'm what the Irish call a "blagger." I can fast talk and bullshit my way out of almost anything. I used to do that in high school for class projects. It'd be presentation day and I didn't do the work, so I'd take out an old assignment and pretend it was my class presentation, and I'd improvise while pretending to be reading something I'd already prepared.
I don't know, chica. I -know- you would not die. Still, for me, it was only a couple times, and before my health got to where it is. It's in the pits. I've done two day fasts since then, but not recently. Now when I fast, I eat a little. I think the God who created me and let me be sick would understand. ;) Especially since I must eat to stay on top of my meds. Anyway, we all have strength that would surprise us, I think! 😊

@KayraJordyn Twelve hours with no food and I start throwing up, sixteen hours and I pass out. So, three days with no food? I dunno, girl, I might be toast if I tried that.

Although you said you drank stuff, and that might make a different. Like orange juice or something, that has calories, might save me.

@BlueMetalChick Yes, I couldn't do that well but that was my most of high school projects, and maybe, sadly I turned up well there. I was always able to score high in arts, and interpretations (english media)
Your metabolism is special! You need to eat, so don't deprive yourself. Deprivation in the name of something awesome can be great, but your health must be taken into account! My sister is much the same. Do you react strangely to medication, too? Just curious... @BlueMetalChick
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@KayraJordyn Some medicines, yes, mostly antibiotics.

I had to fast one time before having a surgery done but I was allowed to drink juices and stuff like that, which surprisingly helped a lot more than I thought it would.

@BlueMetalChick are you avoiding something? I hate that question,
Don't con a con, all I can say... 😆 @BlueMetalChick
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User Avoiding what?
The sugar makes a big difference. Sometimes, it's blood sugar that's affected, causing nasty symptoms. Idk if that's the case with you, but it doesn't seem like a long shot to say it plays a part. For my sister, as well. If she can't get to food right away, I force a Squirt soda or orange juice down her throat lol. @BlueMetalChick

@BlueMetalChick I'll change my answer, everything can go up in flames! ;-)

@KayraJordyn Almost like hypoglycemia, it sounds like.
Lol. Maybe. She's always had a crazy metabolism though, not diagnosed with anything but that, chronic daily migraine, like me, overactive thyroid, and a small heart murmur. And now MY heart is acting up. And I lost two loved ones in two weeks. Life is a mess right now!
You know, Jesus fasted 40 days and 40 nights in the desert? @BlueMetalChick

@KayraJordyn Really, I asked that no one else's knowledge, you could have the respect to not paint a person, and I'm supposed to have the maturity while u paint me badly. Forget we ever knew each other.
I deleted, as per usual, after you read it. I'm okay if that's what you need. However, I'm here if the guy I'm friends with wants to talk in a normal fashion. I'm not the only one who knows you're not yourself so don't kid yourself, D. @SW-User
SW-User
@KayraJordyn I've never kidded myself as normal Kayra. Too often for me, I really look forward to stories and people who don't share it's not normal to let go, or feel sorrow.
You are absolutely kidding yourself. Thinking your speech is common, makes sense, to others, is okay... That's kidding yourself! @SW-User
