Do you have any weird tastes in food?

I like peanut butter and honey on a buttered and toasted onion bagel. (Yes, that’s what I said.)

Ranch dressing on tacos.

Buttered toast dunked in hot chocolate.

Coleslaw is a required accompaniment to baked or fried chicken, roasted ham and turkey.

Chili and cornbread were made for each other. One or the other just doesn’t cut it.

I’m not crazy about flour tortillas. I love corn tortillas (any color) but I don’t like them disintegrating in my hand when I bite into them. So I buy corn tortillas raw and fry them to a slight crisp but so they remain pliable and obedient.

I like tuna and chicken salad tacos.

What are yours?

I didn't realize there was such a thing as fresh corn tortillas that didn't disintegrate in your hand?

Weird food tastes?

Absolutely!

I grew up in sugar cane country and came to love my tamales with a molasses topping.
@Heartlander Yes, there are such creatures. I think it was Ortega brand that used to sell them in tins. I used those when I was in Pennsylvania. Here in the Southwest they are sold in plastic bags, some resealable, which is nice. I suppose you could eat them raw, but I fry them gently so they’re not mushy but don’t fall apart.

I never have found a home for this photo so I’ll just post it here. I was amazed (and not a little apprehensive) the first time I saw the pepper section in produce at a Santa Fe grocery store. Now of course I know there are a LOT more.

The only ones we could get that stayed together were directly from the tortilla factory. Also, warmed, they will stay together sometimes.

Great picture.

Kansas has a large Mexican crowd with lots of neighborhoods and communities that date back to the railroad building days. I also spend time on the Tx-Mx border and in Mexico. Love the food.
@Heartlander Pretty food.

Yes, pretty.

Most (maybe ALL?) the grocery stores in Tx are part of the HEB chain and they operate huge stores in the border towns. The blending smell of the bakeries, fresh produce, the delis and humanity is something to be enjoyed.
