Depends on what the food is made of, and how strictly they take their diet.

SW-User
Veganism isn't so much a diet as much as it is a lifestyle choice. They're abstaining from eating certain foods or using certain products on an ethical level, either for environmental concerns or a rejection of cruel and inhumane treatment of animals.

Alternative meats and cheeses generally meet all of those criteria, as well as fruits, nuts, grains, and vegetables. It's not cheating. They're still abiding by their code of ethics

@SW-User well said!!!

Fake meat is fine. Real meat is not.
Shaman · 26-30
The main idea is that the animals don't get hurt
ozgirl512 · 31-35, F
I get the feeling that everyone has their own definition of what allowed
Fernie · F
@ozgirl512 the meat eaters have no clue what either lifestyle is about...how could they? Most meat eaters I have dealt with can't deal with people not eating meat. Like the religious people who just can't accept that some of us do not believe in any gods
Sourdad · 61-69, M
It's just flavored vegetable protein. It only feels like cheating when you compare it to animal products.
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
They make vegetable based products that taste like meat sort of.
Fernie · F
How is it cheating? It's not flesh.
HampshireHunny · 51-55, F
@Fernie I always thought that if you went vegan that you would not eat anything especially if it tasted or looked like meat.
Fernie · F
@HampshireHunny Not at all! I have not eaten meat or fish for over 30 years.I will say that I salivate at the smell of grilled meat. I just won't eat any of it for various reasons. I was thrilled to find substitutes because unfortunately, meat really does TASTE good and we sometimes crave it. The point of vegetarianism and Veganism is to not eat animals.
Raymuundo · 46-50, M
Its so limiting, i don't how anyone can do it.
HampshireHunny · 51-55, F
@Fernie I'm sorry that wasn't my intention and I understand that it is a lot easier now to research what products and items you can use.
Raymuundo · 46-50, M
@HampshireHunny i wonder how often they cheat...
Fernie · F
@HampshireHunny manufacturers lie to us constantly in the name of greed/profit. I wish more people would see that
ArtieKat · M
I work in catering and went to a newish vegan pizza place a couple of days ago which had fake meat on the menu. It's not natural food ffs! It's factory produced which is not environmentally sound as far as I'm concerned!
hminuk · 61-69, M
There are vegetable based products that taste like meat that are suppose to taste like the real things.
homespun2 · 70-79, M
@hminuk you are right but they a man made using machines and not natural .and who knows whats in it.How do they get meat flavour..Must use chemicals
iamnikki · 31-35, F
They don't eat animal products. She was probably eating s meat substitute.
tinyweeny · 70-79, M
fake meat is made up of chemicals has no flavor and provides pretty much nothing.
Soylent Green ? Soylent Red is for ex-meat eaters.
Some1Else · M

samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
There are so many variations, it is hard to keep up.
dommagic · M
Isn't vegan where it's red meat you avoid?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@dommagic avoid all animal products
homespun2 · 70-79, M
as a vegan yes....unless its tofu....
Yes, it is a cheating if you claim to be a vegan and then you feast on white or red meat!...May be your friend has inclination towards non-vegetarian food now!...😜👍
Winterwine · 61-69, M
No...those items are meatless
Some1Else · M
You can't do a damned thing with or for these veganites!

Just let them pretend to be happy with their choices!

Dis'ing someone's religion, politics,or diet is not highly recommended!

They don't care if their milk, burger, vegetable, and desert all came from a soybean plant because it's "organic" and " natural" and cruelty free and No Glutens were killed for this meal!
Some1Else · M
@Fernie nope
Free Speech!
Fernie · F
@Some1Else stfu...I'm practicing my right to tell you to stfu with your silly BS
Some1Else · M
@Fernie tis no BS!

Vegetables are defenseless living organisms striving to grow and reproduce! They don't immediately die when removed from contact with life giving soil and sun!
Their cells may still be very active as you consume them and until you subject them to your stomach acids!
Just because they have no personal abilities to move or make noises they are still suffering quietly and passively starting right as they are harvested and on until consuming them!
At least animals Die completely and do not suffer before they are butchered for eventual consumption!

SAVE THE VEGETABLES!!

Wow. I hope you've had some kind of injury to the head to ask that.
HampshireHunny · 51-55, F
@lucetta12 Why would you say that?
Fake food is nasty, so she is not doing herself any favors
No, fake meat is still vegan.
angie8819 · 56-60, F
