Get Creative: Help Me Nail My 2026 4th of July Costume!

Every year, my nighttime job features a best costumes event for the 4th of July, and there are fun prizes up for grabs!

I've found these pants that I really like (see photo below), but I need to keep the look work friendly. I’m reaching out here on the SW website for some help!

I’m a bit stuck on what to do for the top half, but I’m open to any ideas. I can wear hats, and I'm considering a USA flag colored top hat for a bit of flair. As for shoes, I have to go with steel-toe boots because of the factory setting. 😔

What do you think of these pants or should I look at something else in pants? I'm open to any ideas🙂

Thank you for clearing that up... I was worried about your safety for a few seconds there.

Could you get a plain white shirt (some scrap cardboard for inside) and some fabric markers in red and blue, then let the grandchildren go to town on the stars and stripes for you???

They might enjoy doing that - and you get your upper body covered without worrying about what to buy...

@HumanEarth Another idea you might be able to do is stars in tie-dye... you might be able to argue that the white bits are the stripes - though it would be more abstract.

Work on half at a time... and expect some purple where the two meet. You won't be disappointed should that happen, then.
