I'm going to try to get better with money

I went to the bank today and took out my last $500, which has to last me for a full fortnight, from today until the 20th of January. I get paid a few days before the 20th, but spending money on my eftpos card is way too easy and I need to calm down. Cash is finite and this way I have a hard limit. From now on, the card is for topping up my bus card, paying my bills, and anything I HAVE to use it for (like places that are "cashless" because those exist now).

Aaaaaaaand I've already spent $15. Bloody hell. But I have $30 per day for the next 16 days (a fortnight is actually only 14 days, but I splurge on Thursdays and buy my dinner so I have to account for that) - this does not actually include today, but tomorrow is for staying at home so I shouldn't be spending anything, or less than $15 if I decide to go to the dairy.

I've also just realised that it's actually 17 days, not 16, that I have to account for. I can't seem to do anything right...

Will you be okay?

@Musicman Yeah I'll be fine. I do have a buffer in the form of my $500 overdraft, but I don't really consider that to be my money. I tend to have a very blase (pronounced blah-zay, I can't do the accent the e in that word requires on my keyboard) attitude of "it's only money" which when combined with my depression-driving impulsivity means I can spend a lot of money very quickly and without noticing it until I have none left later on. But I have to learn to save and curb my spending to reasonable levels somehow, and this seems like the most strict and effective way to do that.

@KiwiDan Have you ever read a book called The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey? If not it would seriously help you.

@Musicman Never heard of it.

@KiwiDan Look it up. It will help you. They actually turned the book into a class. Dave did videos explaining everything out. Our church hosted one of the classes. Both my wife and I took it.
