Expenses (pre-empting the title not being long enough)

To buy a $450,000 apartment with the deposit I'd have, I'd need to pay the bank around $1200 per fortnight according to their mortgage borrowing calculator thing online. I'd need to budget maybe $200 per fortnight for groceries, and another $200 per fortnight for the body corporate fees (this covers rates, building insurance, and maintenance costs). Assuming my bills will be the top of the 'average' according to google, we'd be looking at maybe $200 per month in electricity, $150 for phone and internet, and about $150 in water (the electricity bill is kept the same the whole year round, as heating in winter will obviously drive up prices). Then there's the $100 per fortnight for my bus card to get to and from work. The rest is paying off my credit card, putting a little away as savings, and whatever's left is spending money (if there's anything left lol).

So per fortnight, we're looking at:
$1200 - mortgage
$200 - body corp
$200 - groceries
$250 - bills
$100 - transport
------------------------------
$1950 - total

And that assumes costs don't rise drastically because of Trump's worthless Vietnam 2 - Islam boogaloo.

With 450000 usd you can get a decent house in Spain, a small apartment and have leftover money.

Not in main cities, but still.

I wish you good luck with the apartment.
