Do you think the government places microchips in coin currency?

Musicman · 61-69, M
No. That would take way to much effort for way to little effort. It just isn't worth it.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Musicman Not even possible without a radically different - and much more expensive - way to make coins, and not even any point to it.

Where did this notion come from, anyway?
Musicman · 61-69, M
@ArishMell No clue! 🤷‍♂️
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Musicman Me neither! :-) Probably invented by the OP.
Oh absolutely. The government would spend MILLIONS on technology so they can track pennies. DUH!!!
gol979 · 41-45, M
The head of BiS said in relation to the upcoming CBDCs "we can track every transaction live and stop any we think are suspicious". Maybe not microchipped but tracked on some sort of live ledger. Part of the technological prison thats being erected around us. Do not consent, pay with cash.

@gol979 … tracked on a microchipped hand… but first a “smart”phone
ArishMell · 70-79, M
No!

Of course not.

Just thinking how coins are made shows that would be impossible even if such a chip could work inside a piece of metal.

Besides, what would be the point? It would only track the movements of the coin.

Anyway, which "government"? There are well over 200 countries around the world!

Why would they need to when everyone has a mobile phone? With a cain they know where it is, with a phone they know who it is as well.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
Absolutely not. Can you imagine how expensive that would be?
