There are several methods. One not mentioned, even by the person who has me blocked, is a joint account with three separate areas.
Usually it's divided by checking, withholding (bills), and savings.
This allows set monthly bills in the withholding account. Yet drawn from either checking or savings.
The advantage here is this allows for either party take care of business in the case of emergencies. As well as keeping separate records.
Must state direct deposit by both parties must be settup. One into checking, the other into savings.
The lesser deposit going into checking, while the greater going into savings. The savings interest needs to have the greater deposit to remain solvent. Checking of course can't draw interest, hence the lesser amount.
