Used car prices are insane now.

I'm glad I bought my 2019 Civic a couple of years ago when they were still decent.

Dont worry in the next few years they will drop through the floor and second hand dealers know this so are cashing in while they can . In the UK as of 2030 there will be no new petrol or diesel cars on sale so all companies and those able to will be buying electric and trying to sell their old cars . There will be loads of second hand cars on sale with everyone trying to invest in electric .
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Rhode57 Either that or a run on i.c. vehicles while they are still feasible, bought by people who will never be able to afford an electric one.
Slade · 56-60, M
@Rhode57 I'll bet they'll recind, or greatly push back that date

Yep for awhile (several years) the smaller used car businesses were not selling much. Now if they have something that is not too expensive and runs good it gets sold quickly and even the higher priced vehicles like work trucks or economy cars get sold too.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@latinbutterfly Pretty sure most people want a small gas-saver about now if they got the cash to pay for it if they are driving a lot of miles. So many bought big beautiful trucks but unless they are using them for work jobs it’s a huge expense just for commuting.
@cherokeepatti What's funny, is that GM/Chrysler/Ford thought that trucks and SUVs would be in high demand for the long haul, so they actually got rid of their compacts in the U.S. Looks like that wasn't such a bright idea.

@latinbutterfly Hondas and Toyotas were much better, longer life if maintained.
The car manufacturers are trying to cut the dealerships out. They want you to order your new car from them. That leaves the dealerships to sell used cars.

Bought a used 2008 G5 when the inflation started and the only reason I slid by cheap was because it was a manual transmission!

I got my Camry just in time. I guess all the components are gathering dust on a ships idling in the ocean

Three years ago I bought a used Kia. The dealer wants to buy it back for $3k more than what I paid.

Yeh we were looking the other day like oh shit, glad we bought when we did

Seems a lot of the "Second chance" lots around here have a limited selection.

I know, before Covid a decent used car was around 8000.

Its the fuel! 😀😀

Let's find the jalopies the gubmint foolishly paid a premium for during the execrable "cash for clunkers" and sell them as vintage rides!👍
DDonde · 31-35, M
Yeah just bought one recently and I was surprised by how much I ended up paying. Significantly more expensive than my last car regardless of what inflation's been doing since 2016

Everything is up
