Theater, I do backyard pro wrestling and my role is usually to lose and make others look good at my expense, usually in comedic fashion.
calicuz · 56-60, M
@JimFarris16

That's actually pretty cool. 🙂
JimFarris16 · 22-25, M
@calicuz I play a character who thinks he's all that but is actually foolish, which causes my demise. It makes my opponents look dominant and they usually move on to bigger things.

tobynshorty · 51-55, F
Maybe a shocker but I am a big fan😮

They are working for a living and it has a soap opera vibe. My mother was a fan. We were both Nascar fans.

To answer they (wrestlers) admit its scripted. 😏

@tobynshorty

I've liked certain wrestlers along the way like Hulk Hogan and Roudy Rodder Pipper back in the 80s and The Undertaker in the 90s. If they're funny or cool I'll watch the dramatics but skip the bout. 😅
SoLeRiMix · 36-40, M
It's all kayfabe! Yet, it's quite entertaining. Also, there's no denying that sometimes the damage done is irreversible. They do go beyond their limits to entertain people. It is not easy. In order to get to the big wrestling promotions, if one has a career in pro wrestling (like Greco-Roman), then it is beneficial for him/her. If one has competed in high school, state, nationals, world championships and Olympics, then he/she will always have an edge over other performers in terms of technical wrestling.

The real combat sports are Judo, Karate, Muay Thai, Jujitsu, Capoeira, kickboxing, boxing, etc. If you wish to see it all in one place, then MMA is your answer. .

@SoLeRiMix I did TaeKwondo when I was younger and loved it

@tobynshorty Respect!🙇‍♂

I believe self-defence programmes should be a must-learn for women. Watching a woman beat the heck out of a predator or an abusive partner is so satisfying. 😇
If we only called things "sports" if they promoted a healthy life through modeling good practices, we'd remove

boxing
MMA
other fights
incl hockey (fights on ice)

current tv wrestling
Sumo

American football
or any other sport which promotes out-of-shape "players" or turns them into Muhammed Ali in his last yrs
incl. soccer with continual head-hits (American pro teams seem to like this)

computer gaming when ppl can be completely out of shape

"extreme" sports which are essentially stunts no one should ever try

To me theater...but tbh I don't follow it
bookerdana · M
@calicuz Sorry,man you might have been a fan🤷‍♀
calicuz · 56-60, M
@bookerdana

True, maybe I need to rethink things. 🤔
bookerdana · M
@calicuz I remember a few on EP were big fans of womens wrestling, someoe Rouser
A theater sport? 🤔
calicuz · 56-60, M
@NerdyPotato

Pfuzylogic · M
Theater all the way although Dick the Bruiser got me believing again in my thirties!
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Pfuzylogic

Yeah, I can say I liked the character "The Undertaker," he was pretty cool.
Pfuzylogic · M
@calicuz
The word “undefeated” goes a long way!
goliathtree · 56-60, M
extremely good athletes putting on a show.
calicuz · 56-60, M
@goliathtree

I agree with that.
Theatre, of course.
calicuz · 56-60, M
@ThePatientAnarchist

Of course. 😂
FreestyleArt · 36-40, M
I will be making UFF. Even though I was gonna write some more story scripts, but I was injured. So maybe tomorrow
maturemuff65 · 61-69, F

AdmiralPrune · 41-45, M
Gay theatre
calicuz · 56-60, M
@AdmiralPrune

Oye, that's rough. 😅
AdmiralPrune · 41-45, M
@calicuz You’re right. I apologise.

“Big men in tiny pants and baby oil, throwing each other around and hugging each other from behind.”

I feel better.
calicuz · 56-60, M
@AdmiralPrune

I never said you were wrong. 😅
Keeper · M

FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
Entertainment, it can’t be labeled as a sport because it’s scripted. They are athletes putting on a show.
calicuz · 56-60, M
@FreeSpirit1

Ah yes, scripted is the key word here.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Thinkerbell

I would have to agree.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
It's a choreographed show.
RosaMarie · 46-50, F
It's as real as the Jerry Springer show.
Trump likes everything about it (take it from there)

SoLeRiMix · 36-40, M
@rinkydinkydoink Battle of Billionaires! 😁

I remember the spectators cheering for Trump then. 😇
calicuz · 56-60, M
@SoLeRiMix

Unfortunately, the same crowd that cheered for him, is the same crowd that voted for him. 😅
SoLeRiMix · 36-40, M
@calicuz Lol! Some may have, but not all of them. 😇
ShenaniganFoodie · 36-40, M
You watch to see it ?
Unquestioned · 70-79, M
Theater and sport: But hey, they don't mess around when they start slamming each other around.
MethDozer · M
It is theater performed by athletes and a competition in charisma.
MethDozer · M
@calicuz Especially in days past it was. If you watch the old products it was more two athletes competeing to put on the best match of the night. That is less an aspect nowadays and is more about trying to fill matches with the most spots in a match.

There's much less attempt to simulate a suspension of disbelief and trying tonmake it look real nowdays. In the past though there was a strong compettion to see who could work the most realistic looking predetermined match.
calicuz · 56-60, M
@MethDozer

I agree, with all the dramatic speeches and challenges from the center of the ring with a mic, theatrics rule the modern day wrestling ring.
MethDozer · M
@calicuz you dont get promo shots like this anymore. Skip to 1 minute mark.
