I Am In Love With a Fictional Character
Akkarin... Meet Akkarin, my former fictional true love. He is the High Lord in the Black Magician trilogy by Trudi Canavan. Just to note I know how completely insane and pathetic it may seem to be in love with a fictional character - but I rely on fiction to provide me with things reality could not.
Throughout the Trilogy you get to know Akkarin; at first you hate him. Its a seething hatred and you just want him to die. But through that hatred you get to know him and eventually understand him. With that understanding you start to fall in love. This seed grows until he is all you can think of.
In the end of the trilogy he gets taken away from you. Every time I read it I suffer through it again. I fall in love all over again just to lose it all in the end. The first time it happened, I refused to speak to anyone for two weeks. I understand now why it had to happen, I just wish it weren't so.
