Wife says to husband: "Maybe we should have a trial separation so we could date other people".

What’s the objective? That if they find others they prefer to be with, they will continue with the separation?
And if they don’t find anyone, they will stay together?

@CookieCrumbs Wife felt that in order to "date" a separation was needed. Once she understood a separation was not a pre-requisite to dating, the notion of a trial became different. Trial open marriage. At the end of the trial - does it stay open or revert to a typical marriage.
