In the UK you were slippered, strapped or caned.

Usually the cane was administered by the Headmaster, though in private schools, prefects might.
Always over trousers or knickers.

My dad never disciplined me but my mum did, unfortunately for me our next door neighbours was the school caretaker mrs Broad so I didn’t get a way with anything at school and also she supplied the canes for my mum and held me over the chair while my mum caned me!!

@smacked30D No, just my mum, she also disciplined me if any of my brothers got in trouble because I was the eldest so it was my fault!!!

@abuck My parents were divorced so my mum spanked my sisters and me. We and she were also spanked by her parents.

@smacked30D No. It was common for friends to be spanked by each others' parents. Parents did vary a bit in how hard they spanked.

@NortiusMaximus Oh believe me I could tell when Dad was annoyed with me and he was about to give me a spanking , he sent me to fetch the slipper from the drawer and he was sat on his chair when I returned and I had to lower my trousers and bend over his knee !!

@abuck Dad was the strict disciplinarian in our house . Mum used to spank me with her hairbrush and she made me bend over the settee but it was Dad who, once he got over the slipper spanking stage of my life , introduced me to the cane and just like my headmaster did , made me bend me over the desk, but in the privacy of our back room he also lowered my trousers down to my ankles and he gave me six of the best across my pants !!

Believe me , they were his best too !
