Habeas corpus prohibits the government from unjustly arresting people in detaining them indefinitely without probable cause or hearing and sufficient evidence to justify such detention. It means if they revoke it they can arrest whoever they want whenever they want and hold them for however long they want whether the charges are real or not
The reason the founding fathers included this was because the Redcoat British were known for a pulling people out of their homes in the middle of the night detaining them under military guard strictly based on rumors or accusations or simply sometimes because they did not approve of that particular person. And sometimes those people never came home from places like prison ships
