rachelsj I'll never be able to hack holly leaves. Even dried up and shrivelled they still poke.
That's really my only bugbear, though if on a walk I'll grin and bear it.
I guess the golf course may have a dress code. Mowing the lawn, just keep your feet away from the blades. That's lawn-mowing 101 no matter what you're wearing. And as for a woodland walk, stick to the path or the most trodden route, and watch what you're stepping on. Do that and you can enjoy some of the best terrain available to a barefooter!
If you go off-piste, I find raising you legs higher and staying nimble keeps you safe. And should you get 'bitten', it might just be an inconvenience and pinch/itch a little for a few days after or use antiseptic should it draw blood. No fear, that's the key I think. Shoes harm the feet.
They're a tool, not a crutch...
