Teen modelling
Teen modeling is open to individuals aged 12 to 17 and focuses primarily on commercial, lifestyle, and print work rather than high-fashion runway.
Age Requirements & Rules
• Age Range: Most agencies accept teens between 12 and 17 years old (under 12 is child modeling; 18+ is adult modeling).
• Parental Consent: Mandatory parental approval, signature, and presence are required for all castings and shoots.
• Education First: Work schedules are restricted or scheduled part-time to protect school attendance.
• No Upfront Fees: Legitimate modeling agencies do not charge sign-up fees, mandatory portfolio costs, or monthly listing fees; they work on a commission-only basis from the jobs you book.
How to Get Started
1. Take Digital Photos ("Digitals"): Take simple, natural photos using a phone against a plain white wall. Include a clear close-up headshot (smiling and neutral), side profiles, and a full-body shot. Do not wear heavy makeup or filters.
2. Research Reputable Agencies: Look for established agencies that feature dedicated youth or teen divisions.
3. Submit Online: Fill out the agency’s official application form and upload your clean digital photos.
4. Avoid Scams: Be cautious of companies asking for expensive paid courses, mandatory in-house photo packages, or cash upfront.
I was introduced to modelling when we lived in Napoli, when I was fourteen years old. I was very popular because I had height. I received some training in case I did any runway work by the agency to which I was signed by the agent who had attended the show at our school and I was discovered. My parents were supportive since it was a means for me to get in on earning my own money, and indeed I saved a good deal of what I was paid which I used in the purchase and furnishing of my first home in Rome when I was twenty.
