Jeans and a comfortable Tee

The background came out a little weird but I like the jeans and tee

The white belt is a nice touch. It adds that little bit of dimension.馃

Have you ever considered boot cut jeans?
You have just the right body shape for them . They add implied 'curves' to the silhouette.

As someone who has broad shoulders and narrow hips too, they are my most feminine looking jeans.(Esp with heels)

@OogieBoogie Thank you OogieBoogie. I love that belt.
I never thought about boot cut jeans. Something else I need to look at. And I did have heels on with these but when I added the background, for some reason it took them out.

@ReneeT I never used to wear them either -. I had this idea that they were only for when you wore boots馃槄

But this lovely older.lady gave me a great piece of advice years ago:
" It's not just the piece of clothing, it's how it all goes together" and she went on to tell me about the concept of 'silhouette', and how it can affect how we look.

Like...to powerdress for business , one creates a blocky silhouette, ie shoulderpads, (which you or I kinda already naturally have 馃槄), and pants that are those 1950's style baggy box cut.
Made to eliminate all curves. A pencil skirt will still create a boxy silhouette, it just changes it from a rectangle to a triangle .

Feminine silhouettes work on curves and movement : think of all the great feminine styles from history -.they all go out, go in, and go out again : ball gowns, full skirts, fishtail dresses, flared jeans etc.

And you know, she was right. As soon as I changed to boot cut , I stopped looking angular.(I'm jeans and t-shirt type of person).
I still wear narrow jeans, but with belted longer tops , as they create the curve in the outfit .

And she also said "don't ever overdo it". Like your outfit ....it's simple. It's subtly classy. Not too much going on, not"busy looking".
If one wore a long belted top with boot jeans, you then get this, "goes out, goes in, goes out, goes in and goes out again silhouette - which is too much .

I love classy old ladies, they have the best advice 馃

@OogieBoogie That is some wonderful advice. I really appreciate you sharing that with me. I've always looked at what I think would look cute, never thinking about that "silhouette" look. Now I really have so many more ways to look at the all around features of clothes.

Those ladies have been through it all, and they would definitely be the ones to listen to.

@ReneeT ikr.
I mist admit that the bits of advice given to me have encouraged me to look at my outfit, (when I'm not slobbing and going comfy馃槄), the same way I look at my art.
It's a language, clothing style is a language just like art ..it's shape, texture, colour , tone and line....and how it all works against and with each other .
You can change the whole feel of an outfit by something as simple as a tiny belt, (like you did).
I think this is why some people exude style, and some just never hit the mark .

It's the whole thing, all the items and accessories and hair and make up - all together.
Maybe even the perfume 馃し

Too many go .."oooh, I like that hairstyle" or " I like that shirt", buy it, and are unhappy with it, coz it doesn't give them that 'image' they saw that made them want it.
And thats coz it was 'part' of a whole 'look' chosen to make that style .

I think that's why fashion is such a big thing - it gives people something to copy.
Personal style takes decisions, and trial and error to find .

@OogieBoogieFor sure. When I am buying something (any type of clothing, shoes, accessories) I usually tend to think what would go good with that. I never thought of it that way, but you are right in that clothing is really an art form. It should never be a slap dashed form to throw together.

I may like something I see, but if I try and imagine what it would look like on me, that is where the buying decisions come in. And one of these days I may constantly hit everything right! 馃き
