My wife really wants these, they’re super expensive but we could do Klarna over three payments

Should we do it? Are they worth it? She loves them.

That's the way I buy things. Go for it! Just make sure that you make your monthly payments and you will build a good credit history and don't buy it one other thing until you pay one thing off each time. Then you can buy something else but don't ever ever charge up your credit card. This method really makes it so much easier on people on low income. I know it's been a life safer for me at times.

I’d say no.
But I’m a guy that has a lower than expected credit score because the only real credit I use is for car payments.

I’ve never taken out a credit card or line in my name if it wasn’t for a vehicle.

My ex wife however had 2 cards in my name that she maxed and never told me about.
After we separated she stopped paying using my money she was lying about.

After the divorce my credit shot down from like 720 - to - 580…
Try getting yourself to be taken seriously by anyone after that.

But no !
In my opinion shoes and other luxury items shouldn’t ever be financed.

If you want it save for it and then buy it outright.
You are so sweet
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Yeah, I might do. She does buy me quite a lot of things as well, but I might treat myself. @hiddenpaerl
@Strongtea trick or treat 🍬
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Always a treat!@hiddenpaerl

That’s between you and your wife. If brand is important sometimes you can find brand name things practically brand new for cheaper when there is excess inventory or even at thrift stores. I found a brand name purse at a thrift store in the USA for $20. Maybe wait till it’s no longer trending and the price will go down because they will need to clear inventory.

I agree with others it’s smarter to budget and buy something similar that’s not brand name if you can but you do you.
Daisy57 · 56-60, F
My kid had those. Not comfy
Strongtea · 22-25, M
They look really cool though@Daisy57

I'm not in the right age group, perhaps, to understand these things, but the obsession with 'labels' is expensive and addictive. It can never be satisfied. You say that she will have them for a long time, but the chances are that Prada will lose it's appeal in a year or two (or less), or another labelled product become the desired expensive object in a few months.

I'm sure you love your wife to bits and it's great that you want to her to be happy, but if her happiness resides in acquiring 'pretty things' perhaps some serious conversations are needed? I know you go to church and so perhaps understand the transience of worldly possessions is not the thing to cling to most.

I do hope you are able to work your way through the challenges that these decisions involve. 🙂
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Ok, yes some valid points and things to think about there.
They’re expensive, but they’re versatile, she could wear them to church as well as work and nights out. @FreddieUK
@FreddieUK well said
TeenWonder · F
Oh my, they are kind of like high heels but with a more reasonable heel. I would worry the heel will break off.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I think they should be pretty well made, they’re Prada so always good quality. I worry my wife wouldn’t be able to walk in them, but she wants them so no doubt she will end up with them!@TeenWonder
CallMeSoph · F
They look like school shoes
CallMeSoph · F
@Strongtea they’re not
Strongtea · 22-25, M
She has a few pairs that are really similar. She Says they’re in fashion at the mo@CallMeSoph
CallMeSoph · F
@Strongtea she’s wrong
ElyssTTTrucks · 100+, M
If she wants them, she can pay for them herself.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
@ElyssTTTrucks yeah I suppose she could/should. She’ll probs hold it against me if I don’t let her get them from the joint account at least.
RachelLia2003 · 22-25, F
those are the ugliest shoes ever. just get a nicer one and easy to walk etc
Strongtea · 22-25, M
She loves them, she only really likes them and ballet flats and she’s got literally hundreds of those. These are kinda blowing a lot of our budget though. 😬@RachelLia2003
meJess · F
All that money and the heel isn’t even straight. I had a similar pair when I was at school. They came from Tesco.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Ok yeah, I just noticed that. Maybe it’s just that pair? Need to see them in real life I suppose. @meJess
GoFish ·
i like that style of heels but i don't care about brands.. i'd go with another brand in the same style that wasn't as pricy
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Is vanity such a bad thing if it means she’s well dressed and looks good. She likes to feel like she’s the most important person in the room and she says that the labels she wears do this. @GoFish
GoFish ·
@Strongtea yeah well she's wrong because it's not all that at all
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I know you think she wears tacky clothes but maybe you’re wrong. A lot of people wish they could wear what she wears. @GoFish
onewithshoes · 26-30, F
Too chunky for my taste
-- but if she wants them it's a matter of balancing desire against practicality and budget.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
She likes the chunkyness as her legs are quite big/chunky so small shoes look strange. I get that they are at the chunkier end of the scale though. Ill make sure she considers this before we buy them. @onewithshoes
Strongtea · 22-25, M
She already has these but now says she doesn’t like them because they’re not Prada.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Really? They’re one of her favourite pairs! @ElyssTTTrucks
ElyssTTTrucks · 100+, M
@Strongtea Lesbian academic shoes.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Oh whatever. She got complimented on them by someone last time she wore them. 🙄@ElyssTTTrucks
OutoftheGloom · 46-50, F
Oh lol. I can literally hear my husbands reaction if I'd have asked for £910 shoes!!! He would have said something like "that's one sixth of a new kitchen" There would have definitely been some colourful words in there too, but he managed all our finances and always made sharp sensible decisions, even if I wasn't happy if it was a 'no'. I think the better question is what can we afford if she doesn't have these shoes and what is better for the family as a whole? If you need to put your foot down, do it. She will respect you more for it later xx
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Thanks for this, a good honest response. They are really expensive, but she does really want them. @OutoftheGloom
MrVintage71 · 51-55, M
Could have a holiday instead..Or save up for them,so maybe in a few months time she'll think £900 safe could be spent on something more worthy..
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I get you, she collects shoes/clothes so she will be happy if she gets them, but yes they are a lot more than she usually spends@MrVintage71
MrVintage71 · 51-55, M
@Strongtea Cost of living going on..stick to bargains on Vinted!!! Set budgets between you,I'm not saying to stop any hobbies ,just manage that time/ money / expenditure better...
Wow mega expensive and horrible.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
You really don’t like them? She loves them. @Rose90
Waveney · M
I still find it incredible that there are people who think nothing of spending almost £1000 on a pair of shoes!!
Anon066 · 36-40, M
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I know they’re a lot of money, but she kinda won’t stop going on about them. 😬@Anon066
