As an owner of one I can definitively say; mink

A real mink coat is made from the processed pelts of minks, which are small carnivorous mammals belonging to the weasel family

At some point it’s a living creature. Later, it’s a decoration on someone else.

I once read about a supposed conversation between a socialite and a mink rancher during a tour of said ranch.

She asked, “How often do you skin the minks?”

He turned to look at her, then said, “Only once, ma’am. After that they get cranky.”.
