Bowtie? Or no?

I'm about to board the Acela train to NY Penn Station for meetings in NYC this afternoon and tomorrow. So I'm sitting here at the Providence Amtrak station and so far I've scoped four elderly gentlemen with bowties.

Two of them just look like retired guys who like to look dapper. One of them I recognize as a professor at my undergrad university here in Providence. I didn't have him, but I recognize him from around campus. Never seen him without a bowtie. The fourth guy actually doesn't look that old, maybe mid fifties. He's in a very nice suit, very expensive looking and definitely tailored. Maybe a banker?

So, do you wear bowties?
If yes, why?
If no, what do you think when you see a bowtie?

And girls... I'm asking you too! Do you wear them? What do you think of them? Or of men in them?

@OliRos I could put together a very similar outfit from my closet. But it would not be all black. The suit would be gray, for the vest I have several choices but I think I would choose the plaid as it has some gray in it. And, of course, I have several bowties. 😁

@ArtieKat No offense taken. I've with a few different colors. I think the outfit above works, but it is very formal. If you view bowties as automatically formal, then yes, black it is. But if you can accept bowties as a fun accessory, then all kinds of colors open up.

without being sexist. For men it definitely does work but I'd need to see a woman carrying the look off without looking like a pastiche before coming to a conclusion.

@sarabee1995 I have a friend who, when she was about 19, had a man's suit tailored in navy pinstripe, which she wore with a white shirt, navy polka dot tie and matching pocket handkerchief..... plus strappy red platform shoes. She looked sensational.
