Bowtie? Or no?

I'm about to board the Acela train to NY Penn Station for meetings in NYC this afternoon and tomorrow. So I'm sitting here at the Providence Amtrak station and so far I've scoped four elderly gentlemen with bowties.

Two of them just look like retired guys who like to look dapper. One of them I recognize as a professor at my undergrad university here in Providence. I didn't have him, but I recognize him from around campus. Never seen him without a bowtie. The fourth guy actually doesn't look that old, maybe mid fifties. He's in a very nice suit, very expensive looking and definitely tailored. Maybe a banker?

So, do you wear bowties?
If yes, why?
If no, what do you think when you see a bowtie?

And girls... I'm asking you too! Do you wear them? What do you think of them? Or of men in them?

Let's talk fashion!

I don't often wear bow-ties - I do enjoy dressing up in a dinner suit (tux) though. Confession time: I never learned to tie a bow properly but I did learn a cheat's tip - wear a ready-made bow and carry an untied one in your pocket. When it gets late and everybody has had several too many drinks, take off the bowtie and replace it with the artfully-draped classic tie.

@sarabee1995 I'm a klutz, Sara - I accepted that many years ago and just found ways of compensating

@ArtieKat No reverse hand-eye coordination, huh?

@sarabee1995 Precisely! That's why I'm no good at sports!

Before and after - good thing you can't see my eyes!

@ArtieKat @sarabee1995 The subject of these "before" and "after" photographs presumably falls into the category of absinthe-minded.
