I think that the clothes people wear are incredibly important

They can honestly affect whether I want to get to know the person or not. What type of appearance/clothing/brand do you look for in a person?

I worked as a greeter in Walmart and learned something within a couple months. I noticed the pajama wearing or underdressed people walking in and was thinking that they could do better. Early one Sunday morning at about 7:30 a young family walked in, all wearing pajamas and slipper with uncombed hair and blanket fuzz in their hair. I asked the father if I could give their children happy face stickers and I did and he thanked me kindly. They were the friendliest people, not arrogant, and stood a chatted few minutes. They returned a short while later with their breakfast fixins’ and left. Every single time I saw them enter they’d stop to talk, I’d give the kids stickers and he would tell me I was always so kind to them. This type of conversation never happened with the well-healed professionals. They’d either make a snippy remark or turn their head the other way like it offended them when I greeted them. I learned to not take it seriously. I started looking for a smile on their face when I greeted them rather than looking at their clothing choices.

That’s interesting, I always kind of look down on the people wearing Pajamas outside (we get them in England) maybe because I like dressing nicely, I seem to get on with other well dressed people.@cherokeepatti

@Strongtea I get a long with a lot of types of people. Arrogance and hatefulness is something that I despise and makes a horrible first impression.

Yes I do agree, maybe some people just find it a little bit harder to chat@cherokeepatti

@Strongtea The way they are training women to be leads, managers, supervisors, and department heads at the university may be the reason so many of these well-heeled women were so snobby. It was horrible the last few years working that way. I can understand them training the women to be assertive but it was like a contest to see who could be the most aggressive, over-bearing, condescending etc to the employees.

Oh, that sucks. Sorry to hear that@cherokeepatti

@Strongtea They could take friendly women and turn them that way. I said it would be like selling your soul to get promoted there. They lied their faces off to us too thinking we were too stupid to realize it too.

My girlf was really rude to a waitress once and the waitress just tipped a bowl of (luckily cold) soup all over her and then walked out saying she’d had enough. My girlf is always very polite now.@cherokeepatti

@Strongtea she learned her lesson well. Lucky she didn’t get spit in her food. They’ll do that for repeat offenders who keep returning to the restaurant to continue moaning and complaining after each meal. A young woman about college-aged told me she had worked in a restaurant and a man came in nearly every day and showed his butt after eating. The entire staff got fed up and they each spit a little into his food the next time so that nobody would rat the others out.

Oh my gosh! @cherokeepatti

@Strongtea I rarely eat in restaurants. But I’m never complaining or rude unless I am so damn fed up like at IHOP that I will never return. Then I’ll speak loud enough for the other customers to hear me before I walk out the door.
