Styles usually change for a reason...and intense discomfort was one of those reasons.

@4meAndyou Yep. I haven't seen many women in corsets lately!

@DrWatson I am just remembering that, at age 11, that my mother wanted me to wear a girdle and a garter belt, and the bra she bought for me was hard stiff cotton carefully stitched into the shape of a cone. 🤣🤣🤣 Then she stuffed me into a full length slip...and then the dress went over ALL of that.

@4meAndyou Oh, those cones! 😄

@DrWatson Madonna knows ALL about them!!! 🤣🤣🤣

@4meAndyou oh those girdles were horrible, uncomfortable and very hot in warm weather. Plus we were wearing slips under the dresses. When pantyhose came in style we thought we were in heaven with that comfort. Can’t stand pantyhose now. Am spoiled with so many soft fabrics and memory foam lite air shoes and stretchy light denim jeans etc. Why be uncomfortable when you don’t have to be?

@cherokeepatti I think you've hit the nail on the head!!! 🤣🤣🤣

@4meAndyou Remember when men were wearing plaid double-knit suits? That fabric was much more breathable and not stiff like other suits. No wonder they became popular even if they did look loud.

@4meAndyou Peeling a girdle off after school after wearing it all day in the month of May is a memory I’ll never forget….Freeeeedom!

@cherokeepatti As soon as I started picking out my own clothes...age 13...all that crap went into the bin. You couldn't wear a girdle with a mini skirt anyway. YAY!!!!
