My grandpa doesn’t like my new hair style. All he said was “Meh”. He doesn’t like it! 😭😭😭😭

I’m 20 and my grandpa told me it was stupid of me to get purple highlights and what will my job think. He thinks it’s a shame that young women like me will do ridiculous things to our hair and fashion. He said Meh when I asked him what he thought.
My grandma thought it was up absurd for me to do that, but if it makes me happy, that’s all that matters.
I complained to my older sister that my grandpa made a harsh comment about my hair high lights. I just wanted something different. She told me, “You just grow up. You’re 20 years old and it’s YOUR hair so YOU get to decide what you do with your hair. Your grandpa doesn’t have to like it and he won’t agree with everything you do. Just like our parents didn’t agree with everything we do. Accept it. Don’t mean to sound harsh but it’s the truth.”
Why are men so skeptical about a woman’s choice in hair? My dad was the same way and wasn’t always pleased.

I have a 70-year-old friend who's been getting purple highlights for a few years now. With her, it is partly in honor of her favorite football team.

@Poppies That's very cool in all and very supportive, but what does that have to do with my grandpa not liking my hair?

@LaylaTheTallGirl Not a thing!
Maybe he's just a stick in the mud.

Dyed purple, green, pink streaks or highlights look great.

Remind grandpa what women were doing with their hair in the 1950s and 60s.

My prom date in1959 did her hair like one of these. I think there was a contest for the tallest hive.

Don't worry about it, elderly people don't like change. They want the whole world to run along forever the way they remember it. I'm sure their parents didn't like their hair and fashions when they were young, but they forget about that.

He's entitled to his opinion- and you did ask. If you want to be bold and follow through with your preferences, then do that. No use getting upset over them not being EVERYONE'S preferences.

He doesn’t have to like your hair but he didn’t have to voice his opinion

@SW-User He was RUDE. Sometimes he can be too blunt that I don’t wanna ask him anything.
