Did your mom say you can't wear white before Memorial Day?

Is that a Midwest US thing? When I was younger, my mom always told me you couldn't wear white dresses or pants before Memorial Day. Do people still say that?

I never did ask her if that applied to underwear. 🤔

Mine used to say it. I told her to hit the trail and Id wear whatever I want when I wanted to.
