I would hold on to it. When I was applying for Social Security and trying to get credit for my contributions during military service -- you would think the Dept. of Defense, IRS, and SSA would speak to each other, but apparently not -- I couldn't find my honorable discharge. I applied to the Defense Department for my records only to find they were lost in a fire, long before computers. But for some reason I still was carrying my military Vaccination Card with me, and through it was able to support my claim for two more years of contributions.

Oh. Not that V-Card? Never mind.
