When someone you have been friends with on SW for years tells you goodbye and leaves the site.

What do you do with the leftovers? Their presence on your friends list, and following list? And all your conversations over the years. Do leave them as a reminder that they are gone or do you remove them and keep your experience here current?
RubySoo · 56-60, F
Heck....i keep it all. All old messages.
I guess one day i'll just feel ready to delete them.
Carissimi · F
How do you archive things here? @TexChik
TexChik · F
@Carissimi When you try to delete a message, it will only archive it. To delete it completely you have to go to your account settings and scroll down to archived messages , pull up the message and then delete it permanently from there
Carissimi · F
Thanks. I didn’t know about this. @TexChik
SW-User
But if they have been friends for so long, could you not be friends with them out of SW?
I'd archive all the messages and such..but then I myself have deleted my old account and along with it all such memories.
TexChik · F
@SW-User She never offered. I am sure the friendship was more in my mind than in hers, but I still felt a loss when she left.
SW-User
@TexChik it's natural to feel that loss when you've known someone for long.
I'm sorry you're going through this.
I'd delete all memories if it was painful for me. But just in case I wanted to go back to it when pain wasn't too strong, maybe archive is okay.
Carissimi · F
I’d keep it all, unless it hurts you to keep them. It’s surprising how one can go back and find an old message or comment on a post that gives you strength during challenging times, or just puts a smile on your face.
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
I would remove them. You’ve said your goodbyes… it’s time to move on and deal with the present.

If they ever come back… it’s a new beginning for the both of you.
From my experience, I had kept the messages of the ones I had great memories with.
TexChik · F
@CookieCrumbs I archive the convo, delete are the listings that would keep them current in my account
Lilnonames · F
@TexChik keep them. They could return one day
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
I leave them. Sometimes I'll go back and reread chats. I want the memories here.
akindheart · 61-69, F
I have never had that happen . They usually just disappear

I guess it depends a bit on the depth of that friendship. I kept them. Sometimes people come back after a while, sometimes it is nice to read in past conversations when you have a nostalgic moment. On the other hand, I can also understand to remove them if that friendship was kind of shallow.
Im ready. This place is yahoo answers all over again. The extreme left can voice themselves, but regular people are surpressed for trying to be honest. I had a " hot " post many times that never make the "hot" list, that was more current events then my lesbian gf cheated on me with a dude posts.
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
I usually keep them
Coletracer · M
Personally, I leave things alone and if it was a good relationship, I hope they return or at least left me their e-mail so we can remain friends.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
I always keep them. Even if they delete their accounts, I leave the "X" profiles in my friend list, in their memory.
SW-User
I delete everything if someone leaves . No point in keeping it . That's my preference though ...
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@candycane if they don't delete their messages. When they return all will reappear .
SweetMae · 70-79, F
I just keep it all. I have had several friends pass away. I like to look back now and then.
fun4us2b · M
If you're asking, part of you may want to keep them....maybe in a month you'll know better...
MarineBob · 56-60, M
I just started deleting . know what they add me back
Lilnonames · F
@MarineBob delete me then
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@Lilnonames once again don't leave us
bartender · 36-40, M
Live with the memories. Good to go back to some fun chat of theirs
It's sad. The friendships are real, and it hurts when they leave.
Delete them.

But I'm also quite good at compartamentalsing internally. They're not forgotten. Just put aside. We all move on.
TexChik · F
@V00doo She was a very sweet and fragile, but my ptsd demands I delete.
@TexChik Yep. X
SW-User
In that case, I would remove them.
SW-User
That happened on another site.
I still have the emails, but the site is gone too now. Until the site was deleted, I kept all the messages, following, etc..
I do that with some who died too.
TexChik · F
@SW-User A few who have died on me here I keep because they were such sweet people
Texaspumper · 61-69, M
Well I hope you don’t delete them. I haven’t said goodbye but I definitely don’t get on here often.
Fight the oppression in reality, not virtually, is what id say to all my friends here on SW.
Bang5luts · M
Enjoy the memories, I guess. Usually people don't tell me, then they just move on without a word.. 🤷🏻‍♂️
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I just leave them.

I had what I thought was a friend delete and leave and I still have the messages from her.

The nights I stayed up with her talking her down from doing bad things to herself.

I just leave it and move on.
TexChik · F
@iamonfire696 we are likely thinking about the same person
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@TexChik I am sure we are. I have heard she’s around on another account though. Not sure if it’s true but I really hope she’s got stuff sorted and isn’t so troubled.
