From The Magic Lantern

On page 194 of Ingmar Bergman's autobiography, he's talking about his experience in the theatre, and says
I learnt that everything was a matter of life and death, but not particularly important, that reason and misunderstanding went hand in hand like Siamese twins ...
Reason and misunderstanding, i so get that. For us here how often i see that debates that are fruitless right from the start have a supposed reason that is touted, and at the same time so little understanding. Ingmar's observance here is simply how things go, the irony of head knowledge going in a different direction than the awareness one can have if one just steps back and ruminates on the situation, which for us reflective types too oft is done after the fact, when it is perhaps too late, and then kind of mindlessly it all happens again, la folie circulaire. Ah mon amie, when shall we learn, and behave in such a way that betokens a harmonic co-existence between head and heart, of building upon what we've experienced to be more strengthened in character and influence.

just thoughts. :)
