Ladies, how would you react if you caught your friend dry breastfeeding your baby without your permission?

In a startling turn of events, a woman entrusted by her friend to care for an infant found herself in the midst of a bizarre situation. The friend had asked the mother if she could look after her newborn child. However, to her shock, the mother discovered that the caregiver was attempting to breastfeed the baby despite never having given birth herself and being unable to produce milk.

Initially, the mother was understandably alarmed and confronted the caregiver about her actions. The caregiver admitted to breastfeeding, citing an inexplicable urge to nurture the infant.

Dry breastfeeding, also known as non-lactating breastfeeding or comfort nursing, refers to the act of breastfeeding a baby without producing milk. In this practice, the baby is placed at the breast for comfort, soothing, or bonding, rather than for the purpose of feeding. Dry breastfeeding can occur for various reasons, including when a mother's milk supply is low, during weaning when a baby is transitioning from breastfeeding to solid foods, or as a means of providing comfort to a baby who seeks the closeness and security of nursing.

Initially, the caregiver tried to nurse the baby without producing any milk. However, what began as a perplexing situation soon took an unexpected turn. After a while, the caregiver started to lactate, defying all biological norms. This phenomenon, though rare, has been documented in some cases where women who attempt to breastfeed develop the ability to produce milk even though they have never given birth. The medical community refers to this condition as induced lactation, and it occurs due to hormonal changes triggered by the stimulation of the breast tissue.

While the friend initially grappled with disbelief and confusion, she eventually came to terms with the situation. Both women have since sought medical advice to understand and manage this unexpected occurrence. As they navigate this unique journey together, they hope to raise awareness about induced lactation and support others who may experience similar circumstances.

I don’t think that’s something that someone should do without a discussion and permission from the mother/parent.

@Primnproper I completely agree. It seems unsettling to me. What would motivate a woman to have a baby dry breastfeeding from her? Does she find pleasure in it? Human behavior can be quite strange. Most of us could benefit from some psychological support.
